A Child’s Day

6:30 – 8:00    
Set up for morning activity, breakfast for early arrivals, unstructured play based learning. Parents are invited to spend time with the children reading books, playing games, etc.
8:00 – 9:20     
Structured activity with the teacher. Daily art project, craft, or activity.
9:20-9:30     
Clean-up.
9:30 – 10:15     
Snack outside whenever possible: crackers, bread, fresh and dried fruit, cheese, water, etc. *This is the time we celebrate birthdays.
10:15 – 11:00    
Free play outside: Running, jumping, climbing, sandbox, riding cars, dancing, balls, games, painting, arts and crafts, finger-painting, reading, storytelling, manicures, continuing the morning projects, and whatever we and the children can think of. If the weather doesn’t permit, we will engage in door activities.
11:00 – 12:00    
Circle and movement: Greetings, announcements, yoga, songs, finger plays, musical instruments, dancing to music (with or without scarves), storytelling, books, etc. Most of our circle activities are curriculum related.
12:00-12:30    
Lunch, outside if possible.
1:00-1:30    
Clean up, teeth brushing, and transition into nap time.
1:00 – 3:00    
Nap time.
3:00 – 3:15    
Wake-up and quiet free play inside or active play outside.
3:15 – 3:45    
Snack: Same as in morning, but with additional hot foods such as macaroni and cheese, hot dogs, quesadillas, and a variety of fruits and vegetables.
3:45 – 4:30    
Second circle, with reading and music.
4:30 – 5:30    
Free play with games, reading, and art projects inside and/or outside, depending upon the weather.
 5:30 or 6:30     
Pick-up, depending on if child is enrolled for the regular day or long day.
